Whose Memory Matters? Power, Representation and Indigenous Knowledge in GLAMR Institutions (SIG-III)

Tuesday, August 11, 2026 (8:00 PM - 9:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

This webinar aligns closely with the missions of ASIS&T SIG-III (International Information Issues) and SIG-USE (Information Needs, Seeking & Use). SIG-III promotes international dialogue and collaboration on information issues affecting diverse communities worldwide, while SIG-USE advances research and practice related to information behaviour, information needs, and information use. The topic of Indigenous knowledge, memory, and representation sits at the intersection of these areas and provides an opportunity to engage the global information science community in discussions of equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive information practices. Through collaboration with the ASIS&T Oceania Chapter and the LIANZA Research SIG, the event also brings important regional perspectives and expertise, creating a unique international forum for researchers, educators, students, and practitioners.
