Thursday, March 5, 2026 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (EST)
Description
What is a document? What is documentation? Are they relevant questions in the age of AI like chat-GPT etc.? According to the author of "Introduction to Documentation Studies” professor emeritus Niels Windfeld Lund, the answer is: "yes", they are even more relevant than ever. We document at the same time as we communicate and inform each other, like sending text messages, a letter, writing a book, but also when we make a delicious dinner with dishes on plates, drinks in glasses or make a speech etc. In his book Lund shows through six case studies, how human interaction always involve documentation, communication and information. In other words, the complementary analytical model and method is relevant in society in general, but it is not least relevant for professionals in archives, libraries and museums, and in all kinds of professional document management in different sectors in society by providing tools both to analyze and manage documents as well as designing new kinds of documents. In this webinar, Lund will invite to a discussion on how the complementary model can be useful for the ASIST community.
