Domain Analysis (DA) in Knowledge Organization (KO)

Thursday, July 25, 2024 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Domain Analysis (DA) constitutes an important theoretical-methodological perspective of Knowledge Organization and Representation (KOR), as it provides contextual elements that emphasize the social, historical and cultural dimensions of the processes, instruments and products involved. To this end, we discuss the interdisciplinary dialogues that can be established between Domain Analysis and Discursive Communities, Epistemic Communities, Metatheory and Invisible Colleges. Learning Objectives: 1) to recognize the interdisciplinary nature of DA in KO procedures, tools and products; 2) to identify the mutual dialogues between DA and discourse communities; DA and epistemic communities; DA and metatheory; and DA and invisible colleges; 3) to apply a broader perspective of 'context' in DA for KO purposes.
