SUMMARY:Tuning into Collective Memories: A Collaborative Scavenger Hunt (US West Chapter)
DESCRIPTION:We all hold memories that are dear to us. These can be important to us personally\, or they may be shared memories involving community\, culture\, and more. This September\, the ASIS&T U.S. West Chapter invites you to join us to explore locations that may share personal\, communal\, or societal significance around us. On Monday (9/28)\, we will gather at three locations in the U.S. West: Seattle\, Washington (University of Washington)\; San Jose\, California (San Jose State University)\; and Tucson\, Arizona (University of Arizona). At each location\, a meetup spot will be designated\, at which you will meet others participating at that location in the morning. There will be an introduction to the day's event\, including time to explore local sites of collective memory to be selected by the group. You will then visit these sites\, develop virtual representations of them\, and bring these back to develop an online scrapbook with your group. In the afternoon\, we will join an online meeting to show what we have developed to the other groups! In addition\, we will preserve these online artifacts for future ASIS&T activities. During the day\, you will be responsible for your own transportation\; taking your own personal vehicle and/or public transportation are fine. Brunch will be provided. If you would like to participate\, please register for the activity here (link TBD)\, selecting the site at which you would like to participate.Organizers:Annie T.
